COVID-19

COVID-19

In an effort to reduce the spread of the virus and maintain the health of my clientele and myself, I will be temporarily closing.

Massage is a service that involves close human contact and even with all the proper precautions, I feel I would be putting myself and clientele at potential risk. The President’s Coronavirus Guidelines for America — 15 Days to Slow the Spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), and their statement that all states need to interpret the new COVID-19 guidelines as rules further supports my decision.

HOW COVID-19 SPREADS:
· There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

· The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus.

· The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.

. Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).

. Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

· These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.

FROM THE NIH:

According to a new study from National Institutes of Health, CDC, UCLA and Princeton University scientists in The New England Journal of Medicine. The scientists found that severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was detectable in aerosols for up to three hours, up to four hours on copper, up to 24 hours on cardboard and up to two to three days on plastic and stainless steel. The results provide key information about the stability of SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19 disease, and suggests that people may acquire the virus through the air and after touching contaminated objects.

CLEAN YOUR HANDS OFTEN:

· Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

· If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.

· Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

· Wipe down or spray your phone, keys, credit cards, doorknobs, car steering wheel, and anything else you touch regularly.
AVOID CLOSE CONTACT:

· Avoid close contact with people who are sick

· Put distance between yourself and other people if COVID-19 is spreading in your community. This is especially important for people who are at higher risk of getting very sick.

I encourage everyone to stay abreast of White House and CDC updates and recommendations. Our elderly and high-risk population do not deserve to get sick and potentially die due to ignorant or careless actions of others. I appreciate and value all you as clients and understand many of you will be disappointed. I do sincerely apologize for any inconvenience; however, believe our health comes first always. Stay vigilant and pull together as a community during these unprecedented times.

I will be keeping a close eye on the progression of the President’s and the CDC guidelines and will update this page accordingly.

For now, as of March 18, 2020, I plan to be closed for the next 15 days, reopening April 2nd, 2020.

Warm regards,
Rachel

Massage Etiquette

Massage Etiquette

MASSAGE ETIQUETTE

Cancel in Advance: A minimum of 24 hours in advance is acceptable.

Take a Shower Beforehand: Showering warms the muscles and relaxes the body, and therapeutic oils are more easily absorbed when the skin is clean. It makes the experience better for everyone.

Bodily Functions: It’s not uncommon to pass gas during a massage. If you need to use the restroom it’s okay to pause the session. While not common, some men do get an erection. It will be ignored, and additional draping measures will be provided to increase coverage.

Breathe: Deep breathing promotes relaxation and will enhance the therapeutic quality and pleasure of your massage.

Arrive on Time: Please be aware that a late arrival will determine the length of your treatment. Your service will end as scheduled so that the next guest may begin on time.

Undress to Your Level of Comfort: Massage is typically done nude and clients are always covered with proper sheet draping, only exposing small areas at a time. Clients may keep underwear on; however, it will limit the therapists access gluteal and thigh muscles, as cloth barriers truncate movements, so a thong or no undergarment is favorable. Keep in mind that oils may be used which may stain personal clothing items.

Communicate Honestly with Therapist: Practitioners need to know concerning health issues, specific areas that should be avoided, pressure level, music requests, and any other concern to prevent injury and ensure a positive experience. Communication during the session is perfectly acceptable; however, it’s recommended to work towards deep relaxation and silence.

Turn Off Your Phone: Relaxation is a challenge when a phone is chiming.

Tipping: Tip is not included in the price of massage. Tips are not required but are very much appreciated. 10%-20% is standard.

ACE Massage Cupping & MediCupping Therapies

There is a saying in China, “Acupuncture and cupping, more than half of the ills cured.”

Current cupping therapies are adaptations of an ancient technique and possess the benefits of traditional use, along with many incredible new applications.

This therapy utilizes glass or plastic cups and a vacuum pistol, bulb or machine to create suction on the body surface. These cups are moved over the skin using gliding, shaking, popping and rotating techniques while gently pulling up on the cup or are parked for a short time to facilitate joint mobilization or soft tissue release.

This suction reaches deep into the soft tissue, attachments and organs and also has a sedating effect on the nervous system. Another benefit is to pull inflammation and toxins from the body tissues so that the skin and lymphatic system can readily eliminate them. Scar tissue often releases quickly, despite the age of the injury or keloid tendencies.

One of the most amazing aspects of this technique is the “separation” that the vacuum produces in tissue layers. This enables water absorption and renewed blood flow to undernourished and dehydrated tissue, which is invaluable in pre- and post-surgery treatments. It is evident that separation of fused, congested soft tissue and increase in tissue function can be a catalyst for change in many current health conditions.

Popular among celeberties and athletes:

DETOX 2018

DETOX 2018

Solid bloat are layers of dehydrated stagnant lymph, old blood and cellular debris. Solid bloat can accumulate in the body and appear as fat and extra weight, abdominal bloating, cellulite or those stubborn areas that don’t respond to dieting and exercise.

Solid Bloat is often caused by inflammation, which leads to dehydration of the tissues and the inability of the lymphatic system to eliminate debris.  Blood stagnation is caused by micro-tears in compromised soft tissue, old injuries or surgeries.  Cellulite is often stagnant lymph and debris that can be a lifetime accumulation of old medications, anesthesia, smoke or other inhaled contaminates, and cellular wastes.  All of this stored material will aggravate the immune system and liver, leading to more inflammation….and the cycle continues.

Body Contouring with Medi-Cupping uses decompression to lift and separate tissues. By creating suction and negative pressure Medi-Cupping is used to drain toxins and excess fluids, loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue bringing blood flow to stagnant muscles and skin. Cupping Therapy draws inflammation out of the body while increasing circulation and hydration of the tissues.

Medi-Cupping allows for blood supply and nutrition to reach the cells, and old wastes to be purged, which makes it a valuable tool for detoxification protocols.  It’s an incredibly successful way to assist those who are losing weight.

Body Contouring with Medi-Cuppping is safe, highly effective, non invasive and not an irritant to the skin. This simple treatment has truly impressed those who have experienced it’s subtle power.

Face Lifting and Drainage using Vacuum Micro-Cups

Face Lifting and Drainage using Vacuum Micro-Cups

Face Lifting and Drainage is a very luxurious, pampering, results-driven massage which actually lifts, tones, and tightens the muscles of the face. This uplifting therapy is preventative, as well as corrective.

What does this mean, and how does it work?  A trained practitioner uses tiny mirco-cups that have an amazing effect on the facial skin and muscle structures. Micro-cups are used to vacuum across the skin, or mimic the pumping movements of lymphatic drainage. The suction is kept gentle for most applications, yet can produce powerful results.

The vacuum of the cup creates separation in the tissues and allows for drainage of old stagnation and lymph to ease puffiness, while eyebrows often actually lift back up to the brow line. Vacuum therapy also, stimulates blood flow; which increases circulation to the skin, bringing nutrition to the surface; this also creates collagen formation and stimulation of natural elasticity.

The gentle and 100% non-invacive treatment works in synergy with your body’s natural energy system.  It creates safe, painless sucktion to the muscles in the face to relax the muscles that are overly tightened and strengthen those that are under-worked with very low suction that do not leave the “cup kiss” marks.

Acute and chronic sinusitis in adults AND children, as well as mastoid conditions and ear congestion respond very well with minimal treatment. The muscles of the face benefit greatly from reducing tension and tightness, easing expression lines and loosening rigid muscles associated with TMJ disorders. Lines, wrinkles and scar tissue will soften in just a few short applications.

How long does a treatment take?

Treatment time is about 30-45 minutes.

How often do I need to have treatments?

The Face Lifting and Drainage should be done every 3-4 days for the first six to eight treatments, to clear drainage pathways and produce long-lasting results. Maintenance is once a month once you reach desired results.

REVIEWS:

“I have visited Rachel twice now-and hope to go every time I visit my mom and dad in Siesta Key! I highly recommend both a massage and cupping. I was and still am so pleased with my results! The facial cupping plumped up my wrinkles in my forehead and the cupping on my back has really helped with my chronic pain. Rachel is extremely knowledgeable, and can just tell what spots to concentrate on. You will not be disappointed! Thanks Rachel!”

“If you’re looking for an awesome massage therapist on Siesta, look no further! Rachel is absolutely wonderful! Her space is calm and welcoming, and she just made me feel so comfortable there. I went in for a facial cupping session and I am so happy that I did! I’ve been fighting with sinus congestion for weeks now, and could not believe the immediate relief I got. I can’t wait to go back and see her again!”

-amross89 Siesta Key, Florida

“While visiting Siesta Key with family that regularly visit Rachel for cupping and massage services, I was treated to a facial cupping procedure. Rachel’s space at La Playa Spa is quiet and relaxing. Her personality is warm, inviting and completely approachable. She explained the procedure, the benefits I would expect to see and how I could look into other procedures when I return to NC that could aid in some of the tension issues I experience. I did not want this session to end, it felt absolutely amazing. I regret that I do not live locally to continue to enjoy her services!”
